Lee Zellars Bio

 


Lee Zellars became involved in photography in 1985. He has always had a love for the ARTS. Photography, painting, drawing, film making etc... Zellars be-friend-ed a self-educated photographer who helped him internalize his feelings of his own artistic talents.

By this time, he started studying on his own, reading and educating himself on black & white and color photography. Zellars, a self-educated photographer since 1985, still lives in Cincinnati. As a photographer, he has worked for the YMCA Black Achievers, Applause and Nip Magazine, and the Taft Museum. His photographs have also appeared in Jet Magazine.

In June of 1995, with the help of Antoinette D. Wright, (President/CEO of The Du sable Museum) he had his first photo exhibit at C.A.G.E. Gallery. The exhibit was titled Made In America. His project was selected, along with 20 other varying artists proposals, from over 140 which were submitted from various parts of the United States.

Lee Zellars also volunteered his services to the Community Action Agency, The Ohio State Young Scholars Program, and The Arts Consortium Of Cincinnati. Today, he's working towards a career in film making. He created his production company RozMary Basement Flick Production L.L.C. in 2006. His first short film shot at Media Bridges with coordinator Brain Losekamp titled Family Portrait, won first place for best short at The Ohio Regional Cable Access Awards in Indiana in 2002. His documentary titled M.O.M.S, a story of mothers of murdered sons, received good reviews from local magazines, and WCET program director Grace Hill. Lee Zellars movie titled Nattyville, is his first featured film of 2004.

With more than a thousand copies sold in six months, it created a buzz as an underground cult hit. Justifiable Romance the second feature from RozMary Basement Flick Productions, received second place at The Indie Gathering Film Festival in Cleveland Ohio in 2006 as an action feature. In 2007 his detective drama "Dick" won 2nd place for best crime drama at The Indie Gathering. "Dick" was the first movie screened at the popular Funny Bone Comedy Club on Newport On The Levee in 2007. Today Lee Zellars continues to create all kinds of media projects. Recent projects, variety show titled The Basement Show , a comedy sitcom titled The Spot. Both programs been aired on Cincinnati Warner Cable, and several Internet site.
